Hillary Clinton has "nothing" without her husband and former President Bill Clinton, political commentator Dick Morris told
Newsmax TV Monday.
Morris, who was once a close confidant of the Clintons during Bill Clinton's time as Arkansas governor and president, was asked by Dennis Michael Lynch on "Unfiltered" about Republican
Donald Trump's tactic to bring up past sexual assault allegations on the former president.
"When Trump throws that accusation, it disrupts the marriage of the two of them and Hillary gets furious and Bill gets scared and Hillary goes through periods where she's not talking to Bill, sometimes hours, sometimes days, sometimes weeks," Morris said.
"At one point during their presidency, they didn't talk for three months. And the point is that her major source of advice and leadership and guidance is Bill Clinton. It's an aorta that flows between them and without him, she's got nothing. The reason she reacts so viscerally to these charges is not some sense of feminist outrage. It's that her entire career is based on Bill Clinton and her marriage.
"Everything she's ever done is derivative of Bill and if the marriage is a phony, then everything she's done is a phony."
Morris added that Trump's strategy is a smart one, because "defending women against being abused and groped and sexually harassed and raped is something women like. It's not something they dislike."
