The polling numbers are close between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris for now, but all that will change after their first debate on Sept. 10, which will be a "massacre" in Trump's favor, political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax on Saturday.
"I think that's going to be a massacre, a wipeout, not just a debate," Morris told Newsmax's "Saturday Report."
"I think that's because it's not just a question of Harris' delivery or Harris' issues or her beliefs. It's a question of her level of information."
The Democrats' nominee, Morris added, is "famous for not really preparing for stuff."
"Her whole record indicates very often a slapdash, almost scatterbrained approach to stuff, and Trump is incredibly well-prepared and incredibly knowledgeable," he said. "I think that that we're going to see a huge Trump move after Sept. 1, starting then, and that that momentum will carry through Election Day."
And even with Harris preparing, "How do you brief somebody who didn't understand that North Korea was communist and South Korea was democratic?" Morris said. "How do you brief somebody who has no fundamental knowledge about anything in foreign affairs or in economics? You can brief, but you can't reeducate."
Trump meanwhile, has a "deep understanding" of the issues having lived with them for four years as president and during the time after he left office.
"When you get the two of them together, that contrast is going to be incredible," said Morris. "The phrase that I think will come to dominate people's perceptions of Kamala Harris is lightweight. And we're dealing with what you're looking at now in the polling is a photograph right in the middle of changes. And I think they're going to be very significant."
The shift in polling, meanwhile, is "almost entirely among voters under 25 and Black voters," said Morris, adding that he does not think the high numbers will last.
"It will stop the day Trump faces her in a debate," he said.
