NBC News anchor Brian Williams played fast and loose with the facts for years and has finally been nailed for his sins, conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza told
Newsmax TV.
"This is another kind of liberal con man whose con is finally up. These are guys who have been massaging and manipulating facts for a long time," D'Souza said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"Finally, Brian Williams is sort of trapped. This is a case where mainstream journalism has been getting away with massaging the story and it's finally coming back to haunt him."
Williams has been under fire since his story about being in a helicopter in Iraq that was forced down by a rocket-propelled grenade was challenged by soldiers on his chopper and the one that was actually hit.
The veteran newsman apologized, saying he had misremembered the facts, then took himself off the newscast while NBC investigates that story and others Williams has told, including seeing a dead body floating by his New Orleans hotel and at witnessing a suicide in the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina.
No matter what the outcome of the probe, Williams may be toast, according to D'Souza, maker of the acclaimed documentary, "2016: Obama's America."
"I just saw a poll in which he has gone in a very short time from being the 23rd-most trusted man in America to now being something like number 870," D'Souza said.
"That's falling down a pretty steep ravine and I'm just not sure you can climb back out of it."
