Donald Trump "really got off the canvas" on Sunday in the second debate with Hillary Clinton, political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV.

"He was down for the count when this debate started," Morris told host J.D. Hayworth on the "Newsmax TV Post-Debate Special" in an interview. "The first question came in and was basically an irrelevant softball – and neither one did much with it. "Then, [Anderson] Cooper asked the question about the tapes – and Hillary talked about it."

"Then, Trump absolutely killed her on that," Morris said. "He took this issue off the table, with the Clinton treatment of women on the table – and then made the emails the centerpiece of the campaign.

"It was just terrific."

"Everything he failed to do in the first debate, he did in this debate," Morris told Hayworth. "I predict, he’s going to be ahead coming out of tonight."

Morris is the co-author of The New York Times best-selling book, "Armageddon: How Trump Can Beat Hillary."

The book, which has spent months on the New York Times and Amazon bestseller lists, is written with Eileen McGann and published by Humanix.
