Tom DeLay: Trump Wasn't Prepared For Debate

Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live"

By    |   Tuesday, 27 September 2016 06:03 PM EDT

Donald Trump was not properly prepared for Monday night's presidential debate, former House Minority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV.

Clinton was far better prepared for the showdown at Hofstra University, DeLay told host J.D. Hayworth on Tuesday's "America Talks Live."

"You have to set your goals, as you know, you have to understand and be able to articulate each one of the messages you want to get across, and you have to practice that," the Texas Republican said. "What I saw in the debate is Hillary Clinton was properly over-practiced and over-prepared, and it was obvious that Trump was not prepared for this debate."

DeLay conceded "NBC Nightly News" anchor Lester Holt was not a good moderator, but Trump should have been ready for his questions.

"Lester Holt did a horrible job, I give you that," DeLay said. "But you've got to be prepared for anything coming at you. Even a bad moderator."

Political analyst Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Monday night Trump "could have done such a better job."
