Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., told Newsmax that former President Donald Trump has the Iowa Republican presidential caucus "in the bag" as voters headed to the polls Monday.
"I think the former president has it in the bag, and I think that he deserves a reelection," Burlison said on "Newsline." "I think that what's happened to him and the witch hunts that he's experienced are something that we cannot let happen in America … which is why I just adamantly support him because I think that we need to set right what is being set wrong."
Burlison also commented on Hunter Biden, saying he hasn't heard if House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., plans to hold a full House vote to hold Biden in contempt of Congress, but he said, "I hope that we do."
Burlison added that the argument made by Biden's attorney that the subpoena request was not valid is "ridiculous."
"It's been valid for every other case, it was valid when the Trump family responded to subpoena requests and went in for private depositions," Burlison said. "I think that the Biden administration wants to have special privileges."
Burlison continued: "I think they're trying to run out the clock here as well. ... No matter what happens, whether Joe Biden wins or loses in November, which I think he's going to lose, I think that we're likely to see Hunter get pardoned after the November election."
