Columnist: Authorities Powerless to Stop Ferguson Violence

Tuesday, 25 November 2014 02:08 PM EST

Authorities were mostly powerless to stop the violence that rocked Ferguson Monday night after a grand jury vindicated Police Officer Darren Wilson, says Gavin McInnes, a columnist at Taki's Magazine and TruthRevolt.

"I read one tweet where they were saying that they're letting immigrant shops burn to fester, to make racial hatred fester and you go, no, they're letting [things] burn because someone lit it on fire and they can't put them all out," McInnes said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"You light a cop car on fire and they're like, why are they letting the cop car burn? Are they trying to send a message? They can only put out so many fires. The firemen were getting shot at."

McInnes — author of "The Death of Cool: From Teenage Rebellion to the Hangover of Adulthood," published by Scribner — added:

"You know what's amazing about these kinds of things is watching liberals try to pretzel in an explanation for the violence or just deny it."
