F. Lee Bailey: Fuhrman Scene in O.J. Series 'One of the Better Points'

Defense attorney F. Lee Bailey told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that "one of the better points" of the recent FX series on the O.J. Simpson trial in 1995 was Bailey's cross-examination of Los Angeles Police Department detective Mark Fuhrman.

"They took that part right out of the transcript," Bailey, now 82, told "Newsmax Now" hosts John Bachman and Miranda Khan. He was discussing the limited-run series, "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story."

The key question to Fuhrman was whether he had ever used "the n-word" in describing African Americans.

"The explosive question to Fuhrman was not did you ever use that word in the last 10 years but if other people said you did," Bailey said. "We had a bucket full in our pocket, as he probably knew. If other people said you did, would they be lying?

"He said 'yes' — and it was replayed on TV," he continued. "That was the suckered question and the backbreaker, because it shows that he knew that lots of people would be coming in to say that he was a liar."
