Pollster John Zogby: Florida's Vote a Microcosm of National Vote

Florida's voting pattern is a microcosm of the United States' national vote, so pre-election polls in the Sunshine State should be closely watched, pollster John Zogby told Newsmax TV.

During an appearance on "Newsmax Prime," Zogby spoke with host J.D. Hayworth about a new Bloomberg poll that shows Republican Donald Trump is winning Florida by two points.

"What you're seeing today — and Ann Selzer, who polls for Bloomberg, is certainly one of the best — is Trump pulling into a very slight lead," Zogby said.

"Demographically, it's not a microcosm but vote-wise it is. When we've had very, very close presidential elections, we've had very, very close Florida elections. It's as good a state as any to watch as a barometric reading."

Zogby added that if Trump opens up a lead in Ohio as well, voters should keep an eye on the other swing states up for grabs in the presidential showdown between Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton.

"We're seeing some definite trending in tightening up this race," Zogby said.

The RealClear Politics polling average has narrowed in recent weeks and now stands at 4.9 points in Clinton's favor.
