Speaking on "Greg Kelly Reports" on Newsmax TV, Joe diGenova, former US Attorney for the District of Columbia, leveled strong blasts at former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI agent Peter Strzok and Sally Yates, former deputy attorney general in the Obama Administration, for framing and persecuting Gen. Michael Flynn for political purposes.
“There’s no doubt about it that General Flynn was framed,” diGenova told Kelly, “They threw the law out. They threw the Constitution out, because they hated Donald Trump so much and they were using Gen. Flynn as a wedge to hurt the President.”
During the FBI’s investigation into Gen. Flynn, an FBI agent wrote, “What's our goal? Truth/Admission or to get him to lie, so we can prosecute him or get him fired?” The Hill reports.
“If we’re seen as playing games, WH will be furious. Protect our institution by not playing games.”
The memo appears to give support to the belief that Gen. Flynn was targeted by anti-Trump leftovers from the Obama Administration.
DiGenova told Kelly, “If there was ever a case where someone had a right to sue for Constitutional damages, both compensatory and punitive, it is Gen. Flynn and I hope he does it and I believe he will. I assume he is going to be exonerated.”
Strzok was fired from the FBI after anti-Trump texts between him and his lover, FBI attorney Lisa Page, became public.
“I know this President will pardon Gen. Flynn but Flynn shouldn’t have to have a pardon. He should have his case against him dismissed by the court and if not by the court, Attorney General Barr should dismiss this case out of hand,” diGenova told Kelly. “It’s an easy call for the attorney general.”
DiGenova added, “Gen. Flynn did nothing wrong. Every step the FBI took with Strzok, with Comey, was designed to trap him, to lie about him, to corrupt the legal process. Every one of these FBI people and DOJ people who were involved in this attempt to take down Flynn should be indicted.”
