Giuliani to Newsmax TV: McConnell 'Lying' Putting Riot Blame on Trump

Tuesday, 19 January 2021 08:42 PM EST

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was "lying" when he stood on the Senate floor Monday and accused President Donald Trump and others of fomenting the crowd that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, Trump's personal lawyer Rudolph Giuliani tells Newsmax TV.

"I just don't like liars," Giuliani said Tuesday on "Greg Kelly Reports." "Never like liars, whether they pose as senators or anybody else, and he's lying."

Giuliani said he has video evidence to prove far-left and far-right groups that are anti-Trump actually had far more to do with the riots than anyone else. The Secret Service and others in the government are ignoring the evidence, he said.

"I have this one-and-a-half-hour videotape leading to the murder that took place, he added. "This wasn't Trump. This wasn't Trump at all. Trump was still speaking when they broke into the Capitol."

A USA Today Timeline shows Trump began speaking at 11:50 a.m. and spoke for more than an hour. Rioters began fighting with Capitol Police outside the Capitol at 1:10 p.m.

"Then you remember that very dramatic moment with the congressman who said, 'Have you presented one witness, one witness?' from the speech that came over to the Capitol?" Giuliani said. "There was a minute of silence. I don't know if anybody did, but they presented no witnesses that did that. So for McConnell to say what he's saying. He's just flat-out lying."
