Gordon Chang to Newsmax TV: NKorea to Ask for 'Large Price'

(Newsmax TV's "America Talk Live")

While the progress in denuclearization talks between South and North Korea is promising, it will undoubtedly come at "a very large price," Asian affairs expert Gordon Chang told Newsmax TV.

Chang told Wednesday's "America Talks Live" there has been "no specificity" on what the United States and South Korea might be giving up as North Korea agreed to dismantle a key missile test site under the watch of international inspectors.

"We really don't know, because there was no specificity on that," Chang told hosts Miranda Khan, John Cardillo, and Gina Loudon. "You know people speculate that, as you mention, that they want a lifting of sanctions.

"The one thing we do know is that – because of the destruction of Yongbyon is a big deal to the North Koreans and a big deal to us – they're gonna certainly ask for a very large price for destroying their only place where they can produce plutonium."
