Veteran Fox TV host Greta Van Susteren said 21st Century Fox executive chairman Rupert Murdoch made a mistake when he claimed that many of the sexual harassment allegations against his cable news network were "politically motivated."
"My guess is, as a lawyer … the lawyers who work around Rupert Murdoch are wishing that they could have a do-over, because I think what he said probably was a huge business mistake. And, if that's the way he looks at it, maybe he ought to go to some of the classes that he wants everyone else to go to," Van Susteren told Newsmax TV's John Bachman.
Numerous allegations have been leveled against the conservative cable news network, including charges of sexual harassment involving late Fox executive Roger Ailes, former CEO Bill Shine, Fox News host Eric Bolling and longtime conservative commentator Bill O'Reilly.
"That was largely political because we are conservative," Murdoch told Sky News on Thursday. "The liberals are going down the drain. NBC is in deep trouble.
"There are really bad cases and people should be moved aside … There are other things which probably amount to a bit of flirting.
"It's all nonsense," the media mogul further explained. "There was a problem with our chief executive … isolated incidents. As soon as we investigated he was out of the place in hours — well, three or four days. And there has been nothing else since then."
Van Susteren explained that she and Murdoch had "moved on" following her sudden departure from Fox News in September of last year.
"Let me just say this, Rupert Murdoch and I have locked horns and we are not friendly with each other and we have both moved on," she said. "We have both moved on, and it's been successful for both of us to move on from each other."
Van Susteren recently released a new book, "Everything You Need to Know about Social Media: Without Having to Call A Kid." In it she details how to navigate social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Snapchat.
