Joe Biden made notable declarations against some of the most progressive initiatives from the Democrat primary and that might ultimately hurt him with voter enthusiasm, Newsmax TV's Sean Spicer reviewed in the post-debate recap.

"Coming out of the debate, he was really trying to show himself as more of a moderate, right?" Spicer said during the panel discussion. "He disavowed the Green New Deal at the end; that's what upsets progressives.

"Right now, this election more and more people are decided; they know who they're going to vote for. It comes down to intensity."

Spicer suggested the most enthusiastic bloc for Biden's campaign are those far-left voters who want a radical new direction, including defunding the police. Biden also said he no longer supports radical changes to policing, despite Democrats' social justice rejections of overzealous law and order.

"If that base is depressed, if they're not excited Joe Biden is going to be a champion for the progressive left, that's fewer phone calls, fewer signs, fewer emails," Spicer continued. "And I don't think AOC [Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.] and the far left are gonna be very excited about hearing him walk away from that.

"Also, on the defund the police matter, him coming out and trying to stand strong with law enforcement – despite having no backing from any organized group, as the president pointed out – is going to be another problem, because that's what one of their big issues right now.

"So for him to walk away from those key issues for the far extreme left is going to be a problem when it comes to motivating them and continue to have that enthusiasm that's necessary."
