Norquist: Hillary Gun Tax Plan Will Cost Her Presidency

By    |   Wednesday, 24 February 2016 08:49 PM EST

A Hillary Clinton presidency would put many gun dealers out of business and severely hurt Americans' Second Amendment rights, Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist tells Newsmax TV.

Clinton has supported a $2,500 tax or fee on anyone who wants to sell guns since she testified before Congress in 1993, Norquist said Wednesday on "Newsmax Prime."

"It would be devastating to both gun owners and make a $400 gun cost $500, and many people who sell guns would have to get out of the business," he said. "She's going to lose the next presidential election because of her very extreme position on guns."

In 1993, most gun owners were hunters, but now there are 13 million Americans with concealed carry permits who don't want to give up the safety they feel by carrying them, Norquist said.

"Hillary Clinton says, 'I don't like you, I don't trust you. You can't be trusted with a gun,'" he said. "That's an expression of contempt for voters, and offering to take away a lifestyle decision from them."

Norquist said Americans for Tax Reform has a series of videos set to be released over the coming weeks that will expose Clinton's tax plans, including her taxes on guns.
