James Robart, the U.S. District Court judge who blocked President Donald Trump's travel ban on seven Muslim-majority nations, is a power-abusing jurist who should be impeached, former House Majority leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV.
"I hope people understand that this district judge, James Robart, needs to be impeached," DeLay, a Texas Republican, told host Steve Malzberg on Tuesday's "America Talks Live."
"This man is abusing his power, there's no case here . . . He doesn't even refer to the Constitution in his ruling.
"It is absolutely abuse of the judiciary, a lawless judiciary that needs to be stopped. And the House of Representatives need to stop it, and they ought to start by impeaching James Robart."

Robart, who serves for the Western District of Washington, was appointed in 2004 by President George W. Bush.
His ruling was slammed by Trump, who predicted it would be overturned, and labeled Robart a "so-called judge."
But the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit denied the Justice Department's request for an immediate stay of Robart's decision.
Asked if the House "has the stomach" to begin impeachment proceedings, DeLay said, "I don't know. I know that James Sensenbrenner, the former chairman of the Judiciary Committee, has the stomach for it.
"And I know there are a lot of good, strong conservatives that have the stomach for it. I hope that they enforce their leaders into doing what is right, assert the authority of the Congress against the judiciary and impeach this man. We need to make an example out of it."
DeLay is the author of "Revival! Revolution! Rebirth!" written with Wallace Henley and published by WND Books.
