The mainstream media and Democrats who once touted the now-discredited Steele dossier and the anonymous Trump impeachment whistleblower are now dismissive of claims of election fraud without even looking into them, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tells Newsmax TV.
Jordan, appearing Thursday on "Greg Kelly Reports," was referring specifically to CNN anchor Brianna Keilar who told her audience President Trump's legal team's press conference on Thursday was "so bananas that we can't even bring it to you because it's just so full of B.S."
"These are the same people who said, 'Oh we've got this anonymous impeachment whistleblower that no one's ever going to get to talk to, that I didn't get a cross-examine, that the American people never even got to meet, never even got to see," said Jordan, the ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee.
"We had to believe him, but, oh, you can't believe any of this," Jordan said. "I just don't think the American people buy that."
President Donald Trump's legal team, led by Rudy Giuliani, held a nearly two-hour press conference at RNC headquarters earlier in the day, urging the press to look into what he called a conspiracy of irregularities to steal the election from the president. It was mocked by many in the mainstream press, with even Fox News calling Giuliani's statements untrue.
Jordan and Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., have asked the chairs of their committees, Reps. Jerry Nadler, D-New York, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Carolyn Maloney, D-New York who chairs the Committee on Oversight and Reform, to open a congressional investigation into the election. But Jordan told host Greg Kelly he has little hope the Democrats will do so.
