John Bolton, national security adviser in Donald Trump's first administration and now a harsh critic of the president-elect, told Newsmax on Friday he will be proven right that Trump is just an aberration in American politics.
Bolton also told "Finnerty" he wouldn't take back recent remarks that if Ronald Reagan were alive today, he would be "stunned" that the Republican Party had anything to do with Trump, even after the president-elect defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in the popular vote and Electoral College and ushered in GOP control of Congress.
"We'll see on Monday what the inaugural address looks like," Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under George W. Bush. "I know what a Ronald Reagan second term address looked like.
"He did it in 1984 and tried to give a positive vision of the country. It is morning in America for me all the time. We'll see whether Trump does that or not, or whether we hear more about carnage in America."
Bolton, whom Trump called "'Dumb as a Rock' John Bolton" in a recent Truth Social post, said there is only one reason Trump received 77 million votes in November: Americans disliked Harris more than they liked him.
"Millions of Republicans voted for Trump gritting their teeth because they obviously didn't like Kamala Harris," Bolton said. "But to have an effect on politics, ultimately you have to have a philosophy. And the only philosophy Donald Trump has is the greater glory of Donald Trump."
