The war against world terrorism must go far beyond tackling the Islamic State (ISIS), former Navy SEAL and FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam tells
Newsmax TV.
"We're not winning anything," Gilliam on Wednesday told Rick Ungar and Betsy McCaughey, guest hosts of "The Steve Malzberg Show."
"There's a covert war that's going on all over the globe, and I can tell you why we're not winning — because they continue to call this ISIS.
"The reality is that it's … fundamental Islam, and it's 1,400 years old, which I keep saying over and over again."

Gilliam — president of U.S. Continued Service, which helps employ military veterans — is skeptical about the revelation this week that ISIS wants a temporary truce with the Western nations trying to defeat it.
The truce idea, floated in the terror group's English-language online magazine, follows several strategic defeats that ISIS has suffered.
"You can't negotiate with these individuals … You have to go in and defeat this type of group … whether it be al-Qaida in Yemen, now ISIS in Yemen, whether it be Iranian government or if it's ISIS in Syria," Gilliam said.
"The fact is these are groups that know force, understand force, and you have to take force to them. If you don't take a complete plan, they're going to defeat you because they have a plan. That's the bottom line here."
"Whenever the word 'temporary truce' is thrown in there, it means we need time to maneuver one way or the other or rearm. The same thing happens in Israel all the time. There's a temporary cease-fire, a temporary truce, and what happens? The battle picks back up again."
