Newly obtained emails reveal that former IRS official Lois Lerner knew very well that her tea party targeting activities were going to be scrutinized, said Chris Farrell, director of investigations at the government watchdog Judicial Watch.
"She was keenly aware that there would be objections. That people would find out what they were up to and would pin it on them," Farrell, a former U.S. intelligence analyst, said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on

"There's an overt expressed admission of guilt in these emails … She's been a Democratic political operative for decades embedded in the government, running around, causing mischief for the Democratic Party whether it was at the FEC, the Federal Election Commission, or at the IRS.
"She's obeying her masters in the White House … told to stir up as much trouble to suppress the opposition, the tea party, and then she admits in an email, 'Hey, outside people look at this they're going to figure this out.'"
The emails, released under court order under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal Lerner in February 2012 asking that a program be set up to "put together some training points to help them [IRS staffers] understand the potential pitfalls" of revealing too much information to Congress.
The documents also contain a Lerner email from 2013 in which she says she is willing to take the blame on some aspects of the scandal. She also indicates that she "understands why the IRS criteria" leading to the targeting of tea party and other opponents of the President Obama "might raise questions."
"The sham, the lie on top of it all, is the contemptible literally and figuratively, the contemptible [Attorney General] Eric Holder. His Justice Department coming out with a decision that says no criminal action, no actions can be taken with Lois Lerner even though she perjured herself, or it appears that she did … "
"She's just run wild and there's no enforcement from the Justice Department."
Until May 2013, Lerner worked for the IRS overseeing nonprofit groups and the employees who decided whether organizations seeking nonprofit status were too politically motivated to qualify for exemptions.
She was accused of improper scrutiny of those groups, including tea party organizations, but proclaimed her innocence. Still, she refused to answer questions, citing her constitutional right not to incriminate herself, prompting the House Republicans to hold her in contempt.
Earlier this month, the Justice Department said it would not prosecute Lerner.
