Former Trump National Spokeswoman Katrina Pierson tells Newsmax TV she is fine with the decision by Dick's Sporting Goods to stop selling assault weapons, but added she doubts it will do much good in keeping deranged people from acquiring such firearms.
"I completely respect their decision in doing so," Pierson told host Miranda Khan on Wednesday's "America Talks Live."
"I don't think it's going to stop criminals from getting their hands on the gun of their choice. I mean that's just the fact of the matter."

Hours earlier, Dick's, one of the largest sports retailers in the nation, announced it is immediately ending its sales of military-style semi-automatic rifles. The company also said it is requiring customers to be older than 21 to buy a firearm.
The chain's new policies are going into effect exactly two weeks after a 19-year-old gunman carrying an AR-15 assault rifle stormed into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and shot dead 17 children and adults.
Pierson said she believes the nation has to be addressing "the root problem about why this is happening and not the symptoms."
"Normal people don't go out and shoot a bunch of people," she told Khan. "That's just not normal. We do have a severe lack mental health services in this country. We should seriously be focusing on that, particularly with our teenagers . . .
"We really need to take a step back about how we're approaching mental illness with our young people and how to engage early."
Pierson now works with America First Action, a primary super PAC which describes itself as "dedicated to electing federal candidates who support the agenda of the Trump-Pence administration."
