Kelli Ward to Newsmax TV: 'Arizona Is Still in Play'

By    |   Thursday, 05 November 2020 08:21 PM EST

Rejecting Fox News' giving Arizona to Democrat Joe Biden in a count still ;"too early to call," Arizona Republican Party chairwoman Dr. Kelli Ward told Newsmax TV she is still 99% optimistic Trump will ultimately win the state's 11 electoral votes.

"Thank you for Newsmax not being more of these organizations that prematurely called Arizona; Arizona is in play," Ward told Thursday's "Spicer & Co."

"There's almost a half a million votes that haven't been counted, not a recount, not anything like that; they haven't even counted the first time, and they come from all over the state, but many of those places where they are coming from are heavily invested in, heavily support President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence."

Ward noted the Election Day ballot drop votes still to be counted "are breaking about 2-1, and in some cases 3-1 for President Trump."

Currently, AP ballot counter shows Trump trailing by less than 60,000 votes (56,547 to be precise as of 8 p.m. ET), but the total number of ballots outstanding is "very difficult" to know, Ward admitted.

"A lot of that is attributed to Maricopa County itself, and the liberal hack that they have as their country recorder is Adrian Fontes," Ward said of the county that includes the urban areas of Phoenix.

Ward added herself and GOP Gov. Doug Ducey are doing "everything in our power" to get to the true numbers from Maricopa County elections officials.

"We want every single legal vote to be counted, and at the end of the day, even if it is just by the skin of a hair, I believe we're delivering those votes to Donald J. Trump," Ward told host Sean Spicer.

"We don't want the Democrats to try to steal Arizona from the Trump column."

Ward called out Fox News' decision desk for having a Joe Biden bias in making their early call on Arizona and its 11 electoral votes for Biden.

"They put out information that actually misleads people, but we're doing everything we can. We've explained it to the White House, we've explained it to our team, and now we're explaining it to the public."

Newsmax has not called Arizona in the presidential election yet.

"Gov. Ducey is out saying Arizona is in play," she added. "Don't get ahead of yourselves, media, because we've got hundreds of thousands of votes to count and we are not going to disenfranchise one legal voter."
