President Donald Trump will continue to hold virtual fundraisers during the coronavirus pandemic, Kimberly Guilfoyle, chair of the Trump Victory finance committee, told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.
The Trump re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee brought in over $212 million in the first quarter of 2020, $63 million in March alone, The Associated Press reported earlier this month, but that money has come in more slowly since the coronavirus outbreak caused widespread lockdowns, which prompted Trump and others to cancel in-person fundraisers.
“We still are holding virtual fundraisers,” Guilfoyle told “Newsmax Now” on Wednesday afternoon.
“The machine is going well, because this campaign transformed digitally overnight into a virtual campaign, and it’s been very successful,” she added.
Guilfoyle also said that the Trump campaign has “been able to raise an incredible amount of money” so far, claiming to have brought in “$270 million more” than former President Barack Obama did at this point in the year when he was running for re-election.
