President Donald Trump has absolutely no alternative but to come clean about any involvement he or his campaign staff had with Russia, Lanny Davis, former special counsel to President Bill Clinton, told Newsmax TV on Monday.
"Right now Donald Trump has no choice," Davis said on Newsmax's "America Talks Live" with Bill Tucker. "To save his presidency he has to get the whole Russian story out, over with, because in his case it's going to come out no matter what he does. The only question is when."
Davis said telling the truth transcends political parties.
"Whether it's Donald Trump as president, Barack Obama or Bill Clinton or George Bush. It doesn't matter. There's one president of the whole country and we all have to live here," he told Tucker.
"I have a young family, second generation. If Donald Trump fails and puts this country in peril, we are all in danger. So to the extent that he can get this behind him and address the country's problems — even though I don't support him and want to defeat him four years from now — it's in my interest."

Special counsel Robert Mueller is currently investigating Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential race and whether there was collusion by the Trump campaign. The president has vehemently denied his team tried to help Russia influence the election.
