Lara Trump to Newsmax: RNC Needs a Leaner, Meaner Strategy

By    |   Tuesday, 13 February 2024 09:31 PM EST

In an interview with "Rob Schmitt Tonight," Lara Trump, wife of former President Donald Trump's son Eric Trump, emphasized the need for a strategic overhaul within the Republican National Committee (RNC).

"We need to be playing chess and not checkers," Lara Trump told Newsmax on Tuesday. "And that's exactly what we've been doing. Unfortunately… the Democrats have been playing a completely different game."

She highlighted the importance of enhancing the RNC's ground game operation and voter registration efforts and engaging in legal ballot harvesting across the country.

"The RNC needs to be the leanest, most lethal political fighting machine we've ever seen in American history," she declared, outlining her vision for the committee's future.

Lara Trump pledged to prioritize fiscal responsibility within the RNC, vowing to allocate funds solely towards electing Donald J. Trump as president and "saving this country."

"If I am elected to this position [RNC co-chair], I can assure you there will not be any more $70,000 or whatever exorbitant amount of money was spent on flowers," she asserted. "Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC."

"That is the goal over the next 9 1/2 months," she added.

She stressed the situation's urgency, emphasizing the need to raise funds efficiently and effectively to prevent perpetual Democrat victories.

"We've got a lot of money to raise, and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned," Lara Trump concluded.

With an eye on the upcoming election, Lara Trump's remarks underscored a determination to reshape the GOP's approach and secure electoral success.

Lara Trump noted the need to bank enough votes ahead of Election Day.

"We also better be doing legal ballot harvesting all across this country, she said, because those are things the Democrats always outdo us on, and let's face it, we better start telling people to go vote early."

Republicans narrowly won the House of Representatives in the 2022 mid-terms 222-213 due to their overperformance in the nation's four largest states: Texas, Florida, and traditionally Democratic New York and California. In that same election, the GOP lost the Senate by two seats, 51–49, according to The New York Times.
