Larry King: Playing 'Spongebob' Could Fix CNN's Woes

By    |   Thursday, 30 January 2014 01:39 PM EST

Veteran CNN broadcaster Larry King acknowledged the network has significant problems, following news of its most recent ratings slump, and offered some light-hearted advice.

"CNN's got problems," King told HuffPost Live on Wednesday. "I don't know what they're going to do."

CNN hit its third-lowest month
in ratings history in January, falling far behind Fox News and MSNBC.

King joked that the network should resort to running cartoons.

"Put 'Spongebob' on CNN—24 hours—until a big story breaks. Then we break into 'Spongebob,' and go to the hurricane, and then back to 'Spongebob,'" he said referring to the popular children's show, "Spongebob Squarepants."

King also advised Piers Morgan, his replacement, to spend more time on the opinions of the guests and less time on himself.

"Piers Morgan Live" is "not the kind of show that I enjoy," King said, adding that Morgan makes it "too much about him."
