Sen. Rand Paul is "somewhat incoherent" on foreign policy — and needs to clarify his views quickly if he wants to make it to the White House, renowned economist Larry Kudlow tells

"There's two sides to the Rand Paul story … He's very good on economic growth, limited government, individual freedom," Kudlow, a CNBC senior contributor, said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"He's very pro-growth and in that sense is Reagan-esque. I like that … and I like the fact that he's reaching out to minority groups. The GOP can benefit from that.
"The other side of the coin is his foreign policy is somewhat incoherent."
Kudlow, host of the syndicated radio program "The Larry Kudlow Show," said Paul seems to be flip-flopping as public sentiment becomes "more militant with the onset of ISIS and beheadings and the Iranian nuclear deal, which looks to be a very poor deal."
"Regarding Israel, there's ambiguity there. Sen. Paul has to clarify and he has to make people like me who worry about national security," Kudlow added.
"This election is going to be the biggest national security election since 1980. I'm not yet persuaded that Sen. Paul has a coherent policy and that does trouble me."
