Rep. Lee Zeldin: North Korean Situation 'Nerve-Wracking'

Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show"

The developing situation in North Korea about the reclusive country's development of nuclear weapons and advanced missile systems should cause worry to the entire world, Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin told Newsmax TV.

During an appearance on Friday's "The Steve Malzberg Show," the New York lawmaker said the possibility of a conflict in the region should give people pause.

"The whole situation around the Korean peninsula should be very nerve-wracking for anyone who cares, whether you're here in the United States or you're in that region," said Zeldin, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

"You have a madman at the helm in North Korea developing intercontinental ballistic missiles, developing nuclear capability."

Zeldin added that the U.S. may or may not be forced to involve China if North Korea continues to ramp up its military aggression and targets the U.S. in any way.

"Anyone who's not a little nervous about where the situation is of instability on the Korean peninsula really needs to revisit and reflect on what exactly this reality means, not just for them but for us," Zeldin said.
