The Department of Justice was protecting one of the administration's "lackeys" when it
declined to pursue criminal charges against former IRS official Lois Lerner last week, Mark Meckler, president of Citizens for Self-Governance, told
Newsmax TV.
"They only missed the boat if you believe that they're actually for justice," Meckler said Monday on "The Daily Wrap." "What they're really for is injustice. They serve the Obama administration."

Lerner has a long history going back long before she worked for IRS, Meckler said.
"She was with the FEC where she got reprimanded and disciplined for attacking Christian groups," he said. "This is just who she is and what she does."
Citizens for Self-Governance has a federal lawsuit pending against the IRS for its targeting of conservative groups ahead of the 2012 presidential election. The whole purpose, he said, was to prevent them from influencing voters.
He defended his group's lawsuit seeking money damages rather than a speed-up of the process.
"[T]here actually are money damages, there actually are invasions of rights of privacy, and not just of organizations, but of the individuals that are parts of these organizations," he said. "Remember the IRS asked for things like donor lists. Most people have protected rights of privacy. The constitutional issue here is a First Amendment issue. We have the right of private political association."
The plaintiffs in the class action collectively spent tens of thousands of hours preparing documents requested by the IRS, and it shut down their fundraising and their ability to do media, he said.
The judge in the case agrees rights have been violated, he said.
IRS employees have found that if they obfuscate, delay and destroy evidence, there are no consequences," Meckler said.
"We're a nation of laws and right now the citizens believe that the government officials don't believe they're a subject to themselves, a subject to those laws," he said. "It's a fundamental problem in the country."
