The FBI's decision to take another look at the Hillary Clinton email case shows America's legal system is "bigger than our politicians," former George W. Bush campaign director Mary Matalin told Newsmax TV.
During an appearance on "The Steve Malzberg Show," Matalin said it's a good thing that FBI director James Comey decided to reopen the Clinton case that deals with Clinton's private email setup while she was secretary of state.
"It's not good news for Hillary, but why I say it's good news is because it shows some semblance of our legal system, the rule of law still having some semblance of order, which I think was a big concern for people," said Matalin, a Republican political consultant.
"They might not like Trump, but they know — if he's a kook, they know, if they think he's a kook, they know for sure that she's a crook and she's getting away with it. So if nothing else, this is going to restore, I hope, some faith that our system is bigger than our politicians."

Matalin added that the FBI most likely either found some proof of intent behind Clinton's decision to use a private server, or they're simply reviewing new information to determine whether some intent existed.
Matalin said this new development, which is occurring just days before the presidential election between Clinton and Republican Donald Trump, could tip the scales toward Trump.
"It certainly does double down, triple down, quadruple down on her biggest negative, while Trump seems to be closing the gap … I think he's going to pull it out," she said.
