Former FEMA Director Michael Brown told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that while the damage caused by Hurricane Irma was not as bad as expected, for Floridians "that is the absolutely worst thing that has ever happened to them."
"For everyone who is involved in a disaster — wildfire, flood or a hurricane — for that individual, that is the absolutely worst thing that has ever happened to them," Brown told "Newsmax Now" host Bill Tucker.

"Sometimes, we get overly sensitive, because we have these estimates," he added, noting that original figures were $120 billion, but updated ones put Irma's damage at $50 billion.
"So, we think that's a good thing.
"But it is a good thing," Brown said, "but what gets lost in that whole discussion is the fact for that individuals right now in Florida, it's hot.
"It's humid. They have no power.
