Political commentator Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV on Friday former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price "had a fall on the sword" for his private-jet use that reportedly has cost taxpayers more than $1 million.
"The reality of it is this has been going on forever," the eldest son of President Ronald Reagan told "Newsmax Now" host Bill Tucker in an interview.

"In fact, in the Obama administration, it happened more times than this, in this period of time, in that administration than it did in the Trump administration.
"But this is an outsider, a new guy — and the media is trying to find everything they can that's wrong with Donald Trump," Reagan said.
"And, so, they decide to pick this issue at this point.
"Somebody had a fall on the sword," he said. "That was how it was."
In many cases, Reagan told Tucker that first-class or coach tickets were not available for Cabinet members at a specific time for certain trips.
"So, the private jets are made available to those secretaries who in fact need that transportation," he said.
"If, indeed, there was a first-class ticket or coach ticket available and an airplane that was available other than a private plane to get them there on time, yeah, they should be taking that.
"If they don't, they end up paying the price," Reagan said, "and in this case, Price paid the price.
"You'll notice that this was not done in the Obama administration, when you had secretaries doing the exact same thing to a much larger scale, if you will.
"Never came out in the Obama administration."
