N.J. Sen. Testa to Newsmax: Feds Should Bring Down, Analyze Drones

By    |   Sunday, 15 December 2024 01:49 PM EST

New Jersey's residents shouldn't be trying to take out drones that are circling over their state, but the federal government should be able to bring them down safely to analyze them, New Jersey state Sen. Michael Testa said on Newsmax Sunday.

"If we don't know who owns these drones, if we don't know what their intent is, we don't know where their flight pattern originates from, and we don't know where they are returning to, I think we do need our agencies, such as either the Coast Guard, the Air Force, the National Guard to be able to shoot these drones down," the Republican lawmaker said on Newsmax's "Sunday Report."

State officials, he added, don't have answers to "very key questions."

He noted that he and state Assemblyman Paul Kanitra, also on Newsmax Sunday, met Wednesday with the New Jersey State Police but came away with more questions than answers.

"Yet somehow we were told that we have nothing to worry about, that there's no imminent threat posed by these drones," he said. "I don't know how anyone can say that with any amount of intellectual honesty when we don't have any answers to very key questions."

Kanitra, meanwhile, pointed out that the drones aren't "hobbyist" machines.

"Our own state police sent up an aircraft to go and check out the situation for themselves," he said. "They were sitting on top of one that was 6 feet long, and when they got on top of it, it shut its lights off. Our Ocean County Sheriff's Department detected a swarm of 50 coming across Island Beach State Park the other night."

Kanitra added that the Biden administration is "weak-kneed and clueless" and is "creating a void that we're having to fill," with its lack of action.

The conspiracy theories about the drones will continue to grow if no information is given, said Testa.

"That's what we don't want to have happen," he said. "We do not want to create mass hysteria … the people of New Jersey, the people of the United States, deserve answers and they deserved them about three weeks ago. It is long overdue."
