Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that Republicans staging a “last stand in Congress” over the 2020 presidential election on Wednesday hope to have a “vigorous debate” over the issue.
Waltz told “National Report” on Tuesday morning: “I think tomorrow is going to be a very vigorous debate. I just left the Republican conference, there is a lot of discussion on the Constitution,” and how to interpret the Twelfth Amendment and “the law that guides what we’re doing tomorrow to object.”
He added, “Here’s one thing that I want to be very clear: all of this notion, all of these accusations that we’re getting out of the mainstream media that this is undemocratic, that this is cowardice, that this is blind loyalty to President Trump, that is absolutely not the case and it’s insulting, particularly to me as a veteran who’s fought for this country. This is about the Constitution; this is about voter integrity. This is about constitutional issues that absolutely changed this presidential vote, and this is about fixing those and objecting to those as a last stand in Congress.”
