Outgoing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the country should be focused on things that matter to the "ordinary, working people" of the U.S. rather than "insider Washington stuff," discussing the possibility of the Senate conducting an impeachment trial against Donald Trump.
Pompeo told Newsmax TV's "National Report," he has mostly avoided commenting on domestic political affairs while serving in his role, but when asked about the possible forthcoming impeachment trial, he said it is "time for the country to move on."
"It's time for us to continue all the good work we have done," he said, highlighting the work Trump did to protect the economy and national security.
He said those are the things that matter most to American people over politics.
