Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, told Newsmax on Wednesday that with a slim majority, “Republicans are in charge in the House of Representatives, and we are here to lead.”
Although the GOP holds a razor thing 67-66 advantage in the Minnesota House of Representatives, Republicans hold a 5 to 3 majority in the fraud prevention and agency oversight committee. Demuth noted that “Republicans have won this fight."
“We know that voters wanted Republicans in charge in the House of Representatives, and we are here to lead. We look forward to working alongside of our Democrat colleagues, but we are in a position of authority and leadership, and we will fully exercise that for the betterment of Minnesota,” Demuth said during an appearance on “The Chris Salcedo Show.”
Demuth, who represents Minnesota District 13A, said the new Republican leadership will take on issues residents of her state care about. “We will reduce spending here in our state, will make sure that our kids can read at grade level, because only half of them can, and we will reduce fraud and eliminate fraud that has been rampant within multiple agencies here in Minnesota,” she added.
