Rep. Mo Brooks to Newsmax TV: Not Enough Senators to Challenge Every State

Tuesday, 05 January 2021 10:28 PM EST

Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., lamented that enough senators have not "done their homework" to join the Electoral College challenge by members of the House on Wednesday, and it is likely that only three states will see their electors challenged at a joint session of Congress to certify the election.

Appearing on Newsmax TV's special election coverage, Brooks said there are "dozens of Republican congressmen who have done their homework and concluded that at a national level there's been massive voter fraud and election theft," which handed the presidency to Democrat Joe Biden rather that President Donald Trump, who they believe to be the rightful winner.

More than 100 Republican House members will be co-sponsoring objections in Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, but, Brooks added, "The problem is that it seems that the senators are about a month behind and doing the homework that we have done on the House side, and so they're not fully up to speed on how bad the election theft problems were in November."

As a result, he said, only three senators stand ready to align themselves with a House member to object to a state's electors. Though 13 senators have signed on stand in opposition, at least on House member and one senator must officially stand for each state.

So far, Brooks said, only Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania have been lined up.

"That is depriving Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada citizens of a lawful count of the votes cast by eligible American citizens," he said.
