Pamela Geller: Obama Needs to Stay Out of Mideast Conflict

By    |   Friday, 11 July 2014 05:41 PM EDT

President Barack Obama has offered to lead negotiations between Israel and Hamas to bring an end to the fighting over there, but Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, says that the best thing the president can do is to "stay out of it."

"He has gotten involved and that's why we are where we are," Geller told Ed Berliner on "MidPoint" on Newsmax TV on Friday.

"Remember, it was Obama who said he would work with Hamas, a U.S. designated terrorist group, when they joined Fatah in the unity government," she explained.

"It was only days after that that Hamas started to launch rockets," Geller said, adding that "Obama is already involved."

"At this point, the best thing that could happen for everybody that loves freedom is for Obama to stay out of it, to step back," she said.

Geller is the co-author of "The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War on America," which she wrote with Robert Spencer.

The president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative says that the problem with Obama's involvement in such matters is that he doesn't have "respect anywhere in the world."

"He has literally, in the short few years of his presidency, completely changed the global landscape, completely changed the power structure in the Middle East and in Africa," Geller contends.

"He backed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt," she explained. "He backed al-Qaida linked groups in Libya. He's backing ISIS and other al-Qaida and Muslim Brotherhood groups in Syria, and yet he's opposing ISIS in Iraq."

"It is an incoherent and incredibly dangerous policy and these events are not static," Geller added.
