Drawing the lines between former President Donald Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu told Newsmax on Tuesday that the Iowa caucuses' third-place finisher will "earn" the GOP delegates from his state in the upcoming primary.
Speaking in a heated exchange with "Eric Bolling The Balance," Sununu says that while Trump will fly into New Hampshire and make an appearance at a "country club and then fly away," Haley will be going "town to town, person to person; that's how you earn the vote."
From that point on, the interview erupted. Both men dug their heels in, backing their respective candidates: Bolling for Trump and Sununu for Haley.
"It's a different time though, governor," Bolling added. This is not your father's Republican party anymore. This is a populist party. Trump is proving this is a populist party ... Nikki Haley, your time's past."
"We got kicked in 2020," Sununu interjected.
"Guess what? 2022 should have been a red wave; instead, with him, his message, and his candidates, we lost. We lost up and down the ballot! I'm tired of losers. Aren't you tired of losers? We want winners. We want a new generation; we want a new message, and [Haley] is what wins."
