Pete Hoekstra on CIA Rumors: 'A Call That Mr. Trump Has to Make'

Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Prime"

Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that "yeah, absolutely" he would serve in a Donald Trump administration amid rumors the president-elect was considering him for CIA director.

"Serving in this administration would be an honor," Hoekstra, 63, who represented Michigan for nearly two decades, told "Newsmax Prime" host J.D. Hayworth. "Having the opportunity to get back in public service would be an honor.

"But this is a call that Mr. Trump needs to make," he cautioned. "He needs to have someone that he can have total confidence in at the CIA, as the director of national intelligence."

"He has expressed his concern about the quality of the intelligence that has been prepared and presented to presidents and those types of things. He needs to make sure that he's got someone that he has total confidence in that position.

"If he gets down to the point where he says, 'Hey, I'd like Pete Hoekstra to serve there' or maybe in some other capacity in his administration, I'd really take a look at it and serve in that position.

"It would be a great honor."
