President Joe Biden is going to use increasingly divisive racial rhetoric to appeal to Black voters as the 2024 election campaign deepens, according to a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, because he's slipping with moderate Blacks.
Attorney and author Peter Kirsanow told Newsmax's "Rob Schmitt Tonight" on Monday that Biden's campaign speech earlier in the day at a Black church in South Carolina, which raised the specter of white supremacy as a clear and present danger, is only a small dose of what to expect over the coming months.
"That's a preview of what you're going to be seeing for the balance of the campaign because he doesn't have anything else to run on," Kirsanow said. "They're going be stoking racial division, which Democrats have typically done for quite some time because they need to get anywhere from 90 to 92% of the Black vote in order to have any hope of winning.
"Remember Al Gore got 90% of the Black vote. [Hillary] Clinton got 89% of the Black vote, and they still both lost because Democrats over the last 10 elections have averaged approximately 39% of the white vote and have a diminishing share of the Hispanic vote, which is also trending Republican."
In his speech, Biden highlighted the Confederate flags seen during the Jan. 6, 2021, protests at the U.S. Capitol, which he also noted was built partially with slave labor. It was language, talking points, and phrases particularly aimed at inciting Black voters, Kirsanow said.
"You're going to be hearing this kind of race baiting going on to stoke more racial division to turn out the Black vote to make the GOP seem as if it is, you know, the Klan reincarnate," he said. "And it's going to be a really tough next eight months. It's going to be a lot of lies, division, inflammatory rhetoric, and I don't think is good for the nation."
