President Barack Obama fails to comprehend that illegal immigrants entering the United States are not necessarily motivated by the American Dream, constitutional lawyer and conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly said Monday on "America’s Forum" on
Newsmax TV.
"The aliens keep coming in, and they are not necessarily people who subscribe to the American Constitution or to the whole idea of limited government," she said while discussing Congress’ failure to follow through on building a fence along the southern border. "They are people who think that government should give them handouts and make jobs for them, take them away from Americans."

Schlafly characterized as an "outrage" the idea that
illegal immigrants who make it past the border could be entitled to government subsidies.
"Whether it's food stamps or welfare or Social Security, earned income tax credit, which is supposed to be a refund of taxes you've already paid, and they haven't paid any taxes," she said.
"So, the whole thing is a terrible racket because these people don't necessarily want to be American and subscribe to our Constitution and our way of life. They just want jobs, and the majority of jobs in the last few years have gone to these recent illegal immigrants. Americans are out of work by so many thousands, and it's an outrage the way they've treated Americans."
Queried about the
Hillary Clinton email scandal and whether it might affect the former secretary of state’s presumed presidential bid, Schlafly said the controversy has even riled Democrats who are upset that Clinton played "fast and loose" with the laws and the release of her emails.
"So, honestly, I don't believe Hillary can be elected president," Schlafly said. "I don't think the American people want any more of her. We've had enough."
She urged Republicans to keep the left from "corrupting the voting system" and instead "vote out the Obamaites who have publicly said they want to fundamentally transform the United States of America."
"We once had a pretty good nation with a very prosperous middle class," said Schlafly. "We need to get that back, give jobs to Americans."
