The barbaric "knockout game," in which muggers sucker-punch and rob their unsuspecting victims, is getting less publicity because the victims are white, says Minister Quanell X, a national spokesman for the New Black Panther Nation.
"If this was a case of white youth walking around targeting African-American individuals, the outcry would be greater. And we have to be honest. Just because the victims in this case are white, we cannot look to treat them any different than if the victims were black," Quanell told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"In this case, it's being treated different, it is true, and that is extremely unfortunate because the media has to be willing to call it for what it is. I'm not saying it's a hate crime, because I don't know the motivation . . . [but] attacks on innocent human beings like this has to be dealt with regardless of what the race of the perpetrators," he said Friday.
The phenomenon, which mostly occurs in large U.S. cities, has been labeled the "knockout game" because the muggers try to knock out their victims with a single punch.
Attacks have been reported in New York, New Haven, Washington, and the Philadelphia area.
Quanell said the "game" is perpetrated by cowards.
"Any human being that is preying on the innocence of another human being in a 'game' or whatever it may be is an extreme, cowardly act," he said.
"And if it appears to be the African-American youth have made this something popular among themselves as a subculture practice to attack innocent human beings and attack elderly women or women period, then it is something that we all should be concerned about and it is something that we in the black community, as men in particular, must get directly involved with."
The New Black Panther Nation, a black-based political organization based in Dallas, was founded in 1989.
