Richard Perle: Obama Not Bombing ISIS To Save Environment

Thursday, 10 December 2015 05:21 PM EST

President Barack Obama's reluctance to bomb oil fields controlled by the Islamic State (ISIS) is helping the bloodthirsty terror group grow stronger, former Assistant Sec. of Defense Richard Perle tells Newsmax TV.

"It's mind-boggling," Perle, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

Last month, former CIA director Mike Morell told Charlie Rose on PBS that the White House held off hitting Syrian oil fields and tankers controlled by the Islamic State, fearing that the oil spills that were caused would harm the environment.

Morell added the administration believed that damaging the oil infrastructure would ultimately hurt the Syrian people.

Perle — who was assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration and worked on the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee from 1987 to 2004 — isn't convinced.

"Obama hasn't a clue and this is just another indication of that to believe that the way to protect the environment is to allow a terrorist organization to flourish," Perle said.
