Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts says President Donald Trump should work on the transition he committed to.
“I think what the president committed to is a smooth transition and that’s what I think we need to do right now,” Ricketts said Saturday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “America Right Now.”
Trump on Thursday committed to an “orderly transition” after demonstrators stormed the U.S. Capitol as Congress was working to certify the Electoral College votes for President-elect Joe Biden.
“I think all of us in this country can agree we need to come together as Americans to address the challenges we face, whether it’s working our way through the rest of this pandemic and bringing it to an end, restoring our economy – we had the best economy we had ever seen in 50 years prior to this pandemic hitting – we need to get back to that because that created so much opportunity for all of our people here in the country,” Ricketts said.
“So, we all need this country to be successful. To do that we all have to be working together. That’s what I think the president needs to be doing is working on that transition that he committed to to make sure that incoming President-elect Biden can start working on making sure we get through this pandemic, that we get our economy back on track, because that’s what’s going to benefit most Americans.”
