Donald Trump can beat Hillary Clinton in November if he selects a running mate with a strong military background because of her support for the disastrous Iraq War, Trump supporter Roger Stone told
Newsmax TV on Tuesday.
"I would prefer to see Donald Trump choose somebody like Gen. Mark Kelly or somebody from the military who has a superior brass of foreign-policy issues and would be able to help Donald Trump bolster what I think is a noninterventionist peace through strength based Reagan-ite foreign policy," Stone told host J.D. Hayworth on "America Votes: 2016" in an interview.
"One of the most powerful issues Donald Trump has over Hillary Clinton is her support for the Iraq War. He would completely negate the use of that issue.
"In all honesty, I couldn’t vote for a Trump ticket if Condoleezza Rice was on it," Stone said, referring to suggestions that the former secretary of state join a possible Trump ticket. "I'm not a neocon.
"The rise of Donald Trump is a rejection of 30 years of bad decisions by the two parties that have run us into foreign wars where our national interest was never clear," he said. "Whether the Bush administration lied us into war or whether it was an honest blunder, it was still a mistake."
