Rudy Giuliani to Newsmax TV: Dems Are Anti-Police, Calling for Defunding

It makes no sense to defund police departments after cities throughout the country were ripped apart by riots, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Newsmax TV.

"I don't know what happened to the Democrat party. I thought they fell off the edge sometime last year. Now they're wallowing. How could you defund the police, right after riots?" Giuliani told Newsmax TV's  "Greg Kelly Reports" on Wednesday.

"We just got a demonstration of why we need the police, desperately. Most of these riots took place, in all Democrat cities by the way, because mayors wouldn't use the police," Giuliani said. "Look at [Mayor] de Blasio. It took home three or four days. The governor call him names, basically. I called for his resignation. People on the right and left called for his resignation. And he finally used the police and they solved it in one day."

"You've got about 30 cities that have been decimated as a result of having incompetent Democrat mayors, following this pro-criminal, anti-police attitude," Giuliani said.

Giuliani slammed Black Lives Matter for leading the charge to defund police departments, considering black communities are in such desperate need of law enforcement. He said if the group cared about the black community, focus more on the homicides that happen there.

Specifically, Giuliani called on Black Lives Matter to mourn the loss of retired St. Louis police captain David Dorn, a 77-year-old black man who was shot and killed while defending a pawn shop against looters.

"None of these Black Lives Matter people really care about the entire black community. If they cared about the black community, they'd be "It's phony to say black lives matter when it's only black lives when you're killed by a policeman that matter," Giuliani said.

Before he finished, Giuliani took a parting shot at Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden, who he believes engaged in bribery and other corruption with his son, Hunter.

"It is quite clear that Biden participated, and his family participated, in selling his office for over 20 years," Giuliani said. "He's not just cognitively impaired. He's a crook."
