Ex-SEAL Carl Higbie: Navy Bans Our 'Don't Tread on Me' Badge

A former SEAL says the Navy won't allow SEALs to wear "Don't Tread on Me" badges on their uniforms — possibly because they look too much like the emblem of the tea party.

"At first I thought it was a mistake. I kind of ran through every scenario I could possibly think of," Carl Higbie told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"It's part of our heritage," he said Tuesday. "It was our proverbial battle cry . . . This is the history since the Revolutionary War . . . our War of Independence."

Higbie, author of "Battle on the Home Front: A Navy SEAL's Mission to Save the American Dream," said that while military brass deny there is a ban, he thinks it is real and a test of today's men and women in the service.

"They're seeing how far they can push, and they're seeing who will push back," he said.
