A retired Army veteran says he and dozens of other former American soldiers are headed to the Middle East to help the Kurds try to wipe out the Islamic State (ISIS).
Sean Rowe — who served tours of duty in Iraq and Korea and is founder of Veterans Against ISIS — said Monday the group is ready to fight because he believes the Obama administration isn't doing enough.

"[There are] more than 30 veterans who are ready and willing to use their own funds to go over there and help out in the fight against ISIS," he told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"There's going to be a lot of challenges that we're going to have to overcome and this is going to be a very strenuous journey to be sure, but we're going to be going in there...."
Rowe, who is now in Europe, said the group's entry into battle will be launched in several stages, and, "we're going to be taking extra caution in every way possible."
"I'm confident in the training I had in the military … and I'm confident in these guys that I handpicked to go fight alongside me," Rowe said.
"I know we can help out in some ways. [The Kurds] need all the help they can get, but I believe ISIS is on their way out....
"There's a lot of veterans over there already. I look at all of them as veterans against ISIS so we'll be looking to unite and merge with those already over there."
Rowe said he believes there has been "a major failure on the part of our administration" in bringing down ISIS.
"For example, it came out recently that we knew about ISIS for two years now and they're still running around taking cities, making progress," he said.
"This would not have happened under my watch because we have the drone technology to be able to pin them down if we really wanted to.
"There should be outrage on the part of people. The fact that more is not being done."
