Bill O'Reilly characterized President Donald Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday as "Trump being Trump," but told Newsmax TV "the speech was too long."
"That's what he believes," O'Reilly told host Bill Tucker on Newsmax TV's special State of the Union coverage. "It's what he wants to accomplish.
"President Trump stayed on point. Did not reach out to Democrats very much other than to say, 'Look, we'll give you the "Dreamers" aid if you help us with the security on the immigration front.'"

O'Reilly said the president's address was for "the people who are persuadable in the middle.
"Trump's speech helped him there — because he didn't look crazy, he didn't go off, he wasn't ranting.
"It was fairly disciplined, but I just don't understand why it had to be so long," he told Tucker.
Several news organizations clocked President Trump's address to a joint session of Congress at about an hour and 20 minutes.
By comparison, the longest address among recent presidents was delivered by Democrat Bill Clinton on Jan. 27, 2000, lasting an hour and 28 minutes.
On the other end, Republican President Ronald Reagan gave the shortest speech — approximately 31 minutes — Feb. 4, 1986.
"I would've cut about probably 15 minutes, maybe 12 minutes, out of it," O'Reilly said. "I would've.
"You didn't need it. He made his points."
